Final summary of my contributions

For the Nas article there was actually little information that i could have added that someone else hadn't added. This was by far one of the hardest article to edit. Nas whole life and career acheivements are on his wiki page and whenever something new came up on the artist, it was immediately posted. I tried my best to add as much as I could but it was especially hard in this case.

For the Kelis article I found that a majority of my edits were erased by someone that was watching her page. I included so good information in her article and they took it as a form of marketing. This inevitably cost me to loose my privledges to edit for 24 hours. Overall I think my contribution to this article would have been great if they would have kept some of the work i posted. I included info on her new album and the directors of her video. I talked about her new image and how she initially came to have a singing career.

For my Rihanna edit I added info about her most recent album Music of the Sun, and her special collaborations. I also contributed some chart info and record sales information that was made available in the article. I also stirred up some juicy gossip about her dating a certain rapper.

I contributed alot in the Girlfriends article by way of the lovers list. I was a couple people they forgot to mention, so I include a brief description of each. I think someone erased one, but when i get off of probation for editing im going to go back and edit the article again. I also talked about the last episode and how Joan may have lost the only people who loved her while she was out looking to be loved by Hollywoods A list crowd, who obviously could care less about her.

Final Edits

For my last edit for kelis I tried to add another picture of her but someone immediatley replaced it witht eh original one that was on the site. I also added on the page how her album was originally due to come out February of this year but was pushed back to the early summer. I also included the address of the singers own personal blog. I also added who the famous director that shot her video.

My last edit for my Rihanna article included me mentioning her nomination for a BET award. This is a major leap in the advancement of her career. I also talked about how there was speculation that she is currently dating rapper/actor Nick Cannon, who recently departed from the beautiful Christina Milian because he was being unfaithful. Hmmmmm... I wonder who the girl was that he was dating.

My last edit for the hit t.v show Girlfriends included information on the last season and how Joan may have messed her friendship up with her bestfriend because she choose to be on Hollywoods A list instead. She chose Stardom over her friends which inevitably leaves her with nothing at all.

Another article I read on clickz.com was about how Google is trying to seek a patent to target ads on wi-fi hot spots. They were talking about how sya if i was sitting in borders i would receive ads on like book deals or something that fit my personal profile and my geographical location. This is interesting. Im mean it might get a little annoying at times. Just because im somewhere with a wi-fi connection doesn't mean i actually connect with that spot. But many people might. This is great for the stores in the target area because they can bebefit greatly especially if they are right around the corner.

Im commenting on an article i read on clickz.com. The article was talking about how google was teaming up with Sony Pictures and running a contest for their up and coming movies The Da Vinci Code, which atually hits theaters today. The contest is supposed to last for 24 days and allows users to actually opt-in and personalize their homepages to google to try and solve a google puzzle. Each day its a different puzzle. Once they get the riddle right, they are handed a whole bunch of clues that require them to use google search, google maps, etc. This a great marketing strategy and they said they have plans to actually participate in many more campaigns like this one.

I was reading my team mates marks blog on jay z and I have to admit that it kind of suprised me. He was talking about how there was very little information on jay z. This is odd because jay z is actually a mogul in the music indusrty. The man is the Bill Gates of rap and hip-hop industry. But the information he provided in his wiki gave me alittle more insight as to what molded jay z to become what he is today. I mean hes brilliant in everything he does and he takes time out to identify himself with his music and all of his other decisions.

This week we had an interview with dealcatcher.com. Its amazing how such a simple idea could bring in so much money. Its amazing how much money they genereate by putting coupons on the web. Its a brilliant idea and very practical for everyone to use. We all could use coupons and the great theing about it is that they offer coupons from an array of stores. This is so cool. I actually went online and used one of the coupons to make a purchase for a friend. It was amazing how much money i saved. Honestly this class has made me aware of things that i would have never thought possible that are so simple. Who would of thought.

The edit i made was for the hit tv series Girlfriends. I added another lover for William. her name is Monica played by Keesha Sharp. After realizing he made a mistake with breaking up with the only woman that was right for him William decides to go and try to win Monica back. I just added some information about their relationship throughout the show.

The edit that I made was for Kelis. I just talked about how she became discovered and how her mother really inspired her to become a singer. i really couldnt find much info about her upcoming album, but hopefully i can get some more info by next week before my last edit.

I finished an edit for the hit tv series Girlfiends. In the article it had a section of every and their boyfriends/girlfriends. I noticed that some people were missing so i added the missing people and some information about those individuals. I added Williams ex-girlfriend Monica, Lynn, and Joan.

Another wikipedia edit i made tonight was for Rihanna. I talked about how this beautiful songtress album peaked at number one on the billboards and how her new video "Unfaithful", written by Ne-yo, debut on TRL and has reach number one as well. Her overall success is blossoming and she is on the right road to being a successful artist.

The wikipedia edit i made was for my Kelis article. I talked about her new and upcoming album Tasty. I mentioned some important facts from the album, like how she co-wote 4 out of 14 songs, and how super-producers, The Neptunes, helped her with this album. I also talked about her new look and her video for the new single Bossy.

In class on Wednesday, we had a Skye interview with Rob Scobel who works for Microsoft and also the co-writer of the book we are reading in class Naked Conversations. This is very interesting because we got a lot of insight on products from Microsoft and the type of modifications their making to their new products. He talked about windows vista and and how spectacular this new sytem is going to be when it finally debuets next year. He addressed certain rumors pertaining to microsoft and gave opinions on the xbox 360.

The edit I made to night on wikipedia had to to with the songstress Rihanna. The article went on talking about the release of her album and a bunch of personal things. I just added about how she co-writed her album and how shes under a lot of pressure but she able to withstand it because she more mature than she was when she first started out. I also talked a little about Gwen Stefani and how they were on tour together in 2005.

I wonder if my professor just randomly made this word up off the top of his head? I tried to put the word in the search engine but nothing came up. Interesting. Even webster's dictionary didn't have anything to say about the word. I guess we'll never know.

I commenting on an article i read on slashdot. The article was talking about how a professor banned laptop computers from her classroom. This is interesting because if i was a professor i actually dont think i would allow laptops in my classroom either. I agree witht the professor when she said they were a distraction to her lectures. The really are. They take the focus off of the professor and on the person with the laptop, especially if the person is sitting right in front of you. Im just commenting from experience. I know when students in my class bring laptops im more interested in seeing what they are up to on their laptop, then whats atually being taught in the front of the classroom. They are a huge distraction, and i think they should be banned. They belong in places other than a classroom. Thats what paper and pencil is for.

I was reading one of my team mates scotts posting on the xbox hacking. He was talking about how they recently discovered that that the xbox 360 can actually be hacked so users can play recorded games. I thought this was how all the xboxes worked. I actually know of some stories from people who actually hacked in the old xboxes and did the same thing. This is ashame for the video games industry because of all the money thats being lost by individuals hacking into the system. I know someone who has never once bought a video game because of all the free swaping he is doing with friends. Its such ashame how the industry is being played, but hey at the same time its a good thing for us consumers because have you seen the price of those ridiculous xbox 360's. I mean if im going to pay that much for a video game system i better be getting something for free.

Im writing about the article i read on slashdot. The article was talking about the 10 strangest mp3 players. If you actually take a look at the mp3 players, they are actually weird. They have listed mp3 players of all sorts. They have devices that look like teddy bears, toilets, some that calm and relax the brain, some that come in cereal boxes for a very fruggle price, and actually one that looks like a mirror. My favorite on is the one that is scented. You can actually buy a mp3 player that smells, and good at that. They come in a bunch of delightful flavors such as rose, chocolate, vanilla, lemon, and blueberry. Come on now. How far are they going to go as marketers. I wonder what the market share on that product is?

In class we are learning about podcasts. I actually think it is interesting that you can download a music video or radio programsn over the internet. I think its cool that if i want to listen to a a program of about only Oprah, i can actually download it and i will hear nothing but information on Oprah and all the new updates as well. Its crazy because i have an ipod an not once did i ever think about listening to a podcast. I mean ive heard people talk about it but I played the subject off. Im actually planning on experimenting with the podcasts to see how it works. It took me awhile to learn how to use my ipod, but hopefully this wont take long since i have the jist of things now.

In my buad477 class we are learning about and using an internet telephone called skype. Skype is an internet telephone that enables peer to peer users of this application to conversate globally using a headset via the internet free of charge. Not only does allow you to hold phone converations, but you can also send text messages or send files to other users as well. In class we actually engage in conversations with top leading business entrepeneurs all over the world using this software. To me its quite engaging, but the only drawback to the program is that there are no visuals involved, its just over the phone. You cant actually see the person you are talking to. This kind of has a huge impact on on our class listening sessions because with us not having a visual of who we are talking to, it kind of draws our attention away from what is actually going on. Other than that. this program is cool. Im actually thinking about downloading it so i can talk to my friend in Korea when she graduates and goes home.

as far as my wikipedia editing goes, im currently editing 4 articles: Rihanna, Nas, Kelis and the tv show Girlfriends. My first edit of the week went to rapper Nas. The article already had alot of information on critically acclaimed rapper but writers forgot to write about his recent marriage. i just went in and added a little information on the wedding and his wife, singer Kelis, who is also one of my picks for editing.

this is officially my second posting. at first when i strated this project i thought that learning how to use blogs would be annoying and just alot of busy work, but i have come to realize that it is actually fun.
